First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY) visit 2nd June 2023
It was a great honour for Supacat to receive a visit from a group of a dozen FANYs! The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANY) was established in 1907 and acted as modern-day combat medics, providing on-site first aid and rescuing wounded individuals while working solo on horseback. Later on, they carried out their duties as part of the Special Operations Executive (SOE), known today as MI6, under the guise of First Aiders. They are also entitled to complete military parachute training and wear “para wings” due to their operational jumps into Normandy during World War II for specific missions.
Nowadays, FANYs are typically the first to arrive on the scene, deploying specialist rapid response teams to set up Silver/Gold Command posts and call in Senior Military and Police before handing the role back to the Police or Military. Although they are volunteers and not trained at Sandhurst, they wear officer’s uniform. Princess Anne has been the Commandant in Chief for the past 42 years.
They had an amazing day, hosted by Toby, Nigel, and Iain, and were grateful for the opportunity to drive a Jackal around the track.
